When we think of communion, we think of Holy Communion at Mass. But communion also has something to do with our whole life. A Eucharistic life is a life of communion. What does this mean? Pope Benedict XVI gives us a helpful blueprint:
Communion always and inseparably has both a vertical and a horizontal sense: it is communion with God and communion with our brothers and sisters. Both dimensions mysteriously converge in the gift of the Eucharist. “Wherever communion with God, which is communion with the Father, with the Son and with the Holy Spirit, is destroyed, the root and source of our communion with one another is destroyed. And wherever we do not live communion among ourselves, communion with the Triune God is not alive and true either.”
These two dimensions—vertical and horizontal—can shape a whole way of life according to God’s design, which is to say, according to communion. Read More.

Cómo vivir una vida eucarística

Cuando pensamos en la comunión, pensamos en la Santa Comunión en la Misa. Pero la comunión también tiene que ver con toda nuestra vida. Una vida eucarística es una vida de comunión. ¿Qué significa esto? El Papa Benedicto XVI nos da un esquema útil:
La comunión tiene siempre e inseparablemente un sentido vertical y otro horizontal: es comunión con Dios y comunión con los hermanos. Ambas dimensiones convergen misteriosamente en el don de la Eucaristía. "Dondequiera que se destruye la comunión con Dios, que es comunión con el Padre, con el Hijo y con el Espíritu Santo, se destruye la raíz y la fuente de nuestra comunión recíproca. Y allí donde no vivimos la comunión entre nosotros, tampoco es viva y verdadera la comunión con el Dios Trino."1
Estas dos dimensiones -vertical y horizontal- pueden configurar todo un estilo de vida según el designio de Dios, es decir, según la comunión. Leer más.
