Music Ministry

Music Ministry is one of the most important areas of service to the liturgical life of our parish. St. Paul advised the Colossians to “let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, with all wisdom, as you teach and admonish one another, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” That is the calling of every member of the worshiping assembly. But it is the special calling of music ministers to teach, encourage, inspire, and lead by example. Music at the Weekend Masses:

Saturday, 5:30 p.m.: On most Saturdays, music accompaniment is provided by an organist and singing is led by two cantors. The music styles range from traditional to more recently composed liturgical music. Contacts: Bob and Elizabeth McAdams, Cantors, at 492-5436

Sunday, 8:30 a.m.: Music styles can range from traditional to more recently composed liturgical music. The music ministers include Chris Urrutia, on keyboards and vocals, and Margo Schwirian serving as Cantor. Enthusiastic singers are always welcome! If interested, please call Chris at 218-7720.

Sunday 10:00 a.m. Choir: This choir sings mostly contemporary music and is usually accompanied by piano and/or guitar, flute, and occasionally percussion and other instruments. Rehearsals are held on Sunday mornings before the 10 a.m. Mass. For more information on how you can participate, contact Don Walheim at 436-5755.

Sunday 11:30 a.m. Choir: This choir sings grouped in sections by voice type (sopranos, altos, tenors, basses) and is accompanied usually by organ or piano. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the church, and also before Mass in the St. Joseph’s room to warm up. During the summer this choir practices only on Sundays before Mass. Come join us! We need voices in all sections. Contact: Bob McAdams at 492-5436. Sunday 1:00 p.m. Coro Luz de Cristo: The St. Luke Spanish Choir (Coro: Luz de Cristo) invites you to join us. We are a bi-lingual choir, with a focus on the Spanish liturgy. We incorporate music and voice lessons during our practice sessions. Our practices are on Mondays (6:30 p.m.) and Sundays (11:45 a.m.). If you like to sing, or can play an instrument, call Galo Gutierrez at 535-0324. Come praise the Lord through song and prayer!

The Spanish Choir – CORO LUZ DE CRISTO

Sunday 4:00 p.m. Choir: The St. Luke Youth Music Ministry provides contemporary music for this Mass and is open to anyone who wants to sing or play an instrument. The music crew rehearses every Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the St. Joseph Room. Contact: Miguel Ochoa at 643-6622.

Bereavement Choir: This choir is devoted to providing uplifting music and vocal support for funeral liturgies. Perfect for seniors who like to sing, or other adults who prefer a daytime service during the week. Contact: Dottie Knodell at 734-4176.
